COSHH INSPECTIONS & COSHH REGULATIONS

COSHH - Control of Substances Hazardous to Health 2002

The COSHH regulations apply to every company that either uses or produces in the work place substances hazardous to health. This would, for example, include vapours given off by glue or paint, or fumes generated by welding operations, some types of fork lift trucks, etc.

One method of controlling air-borne hazardous substances is the use of a local exhaust ventilation system (LEV).

Other legislation requiring the operation of LEV equipment: The Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 1987, and The Control of Lead at Work Regulations 1988.

The COSHH regulations require that LEV equipment is examined by a competent person at intervals dependent on the trade or business and the application of the equipment.
